lore

The Hyperion was one of the most ambitious ships to be launched by Exogenesis. This massive research vessel was equipped with the latest in space travel technology and science labs to support long-term missions. Its crew, made up of a mixture of scientists, engineers, and Astral Frontiers soldiers, was sent to Uranus.Upon arrival, the crew spent several weeks on the planet’s surface, meticulously studying the strange ecosystem and collecting biological samples. They documented unusual plant life that emitted bioluminescent gases, aggressive predatory lifeforms that seemed to communicate via electromagnetic pulses, and a dense, ever-moving atmosphere that made navigation difficult. It was an unprecedented discovery, but the crew was able to gather valuable data, marking their mission a success. As the Hyperion began its journey back to Earth, something went terribly wrong. A sudden anomaly in the space-time continuum—unexplained and catastrophic—struck the starship. The ship’s primary systems, including navigation, communication, and life support, were all severely damaged. Within moments, the starship was left stranded in deep space, adrift far beyond the reaches of Earth's immediate rescue.A system glitch led to a cascading failure of the ship’s humanoid artificial intelligence (AI) Atlas-9, causing severe malfunctions in the ship’s communications and control systems. The crew tried desperately to troubleshoot and reconnect with Earth’s communications network, but their efforts proved fruitless as all signals were being scrambled by the unknown anomaly. With supplies running low, including food, water, and oxygen, the crew’s situation quickly became dire.

The crew of the Hyperion faced unimaginable hardships as they drifted in the vast emptiness of space. With the clock ticking on their dwindling resources, their primary goal was survival. The crew divided into two groups: one focused on trying to repair the ship’s systems, while the other turned their attention to rationing and securing any remaining supplies.Morale began to decline as days turned into weeks, and hope began to fade. Attempts to send distress signals back to Earth proved fruitless, leaving the crew isolated in the dark. The Astral Frontiers were trained for tough situations, but nothing had prepared them for being stranded in deep space, hundreds of light years from home, with no clear way to return. Tensions within the crew started to rise as resources ran thin. Some began to question the leadership of the expedition, while others grew paranoid about possible peculiar threats they had encountered during their time on Uranus. Supplies were rationed even more tightly, and the crew had to make desperate decisions, including the potential of abandoning certain sections of the ship to conserve air and water. As the crew continued to endure the harsh conditions, something strange began to happen. There were reports of strange signals emanating from outside the ship—subtle patterns that did not match known space phenomena. Some crew members believed it to be a sign of extraterrestrial life, while others thought it might be a malfunction in the ship’s instruments. The anomaly that had struck the ship did not vanish. In fact, it seemed to grow more intense, as though the ship had been caught in some kind of cosmic rift. The closer the ship came to Earth’s orbit, the more erratic their position became. Some of the crew began to feel the physical toll of the malfunctioning environment, including strange sensory distortions and nightmarish hallucinations, which led them to suspect that the anomaly had been influencing their minds as well as their equipment.
